The annual firefighting training was conducted at our Soft Rock Hotel Site on 10 February 2019. This training was conducted in our efforts to create awareness for fire related accidents among our workers. 150 staff employed on the project participated in this program.
The course was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and necessary skills to manage and extinguish a fire at home and in the work environment, using a variety of skills and various firefighting equipment.
The participants were educated on general respect for fire to make employees aware of fire risks at home and in the workplace in a theory session followed by the practical session where all participants were introduced to basic firefighting equipment and their proper use in extinguishing fires. The practical sessions were conducted in 4 groups where all participants were given the opportunity to extinguish a controlled fire.
This training program was organized by the company, in association with the Sifainge Welfare Company Pvt. Ltd (SIWEC) and Fire and Rescue Training School (FRS) of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
